| Hopefully we'll get a little more action later today, but I can't really complain even if today is a dud. We've already had some big names dealt, more so than in previous years.
For once, I like a Mariners trade. Gaby Hernandez's numbers are awful this year, but keep in mind that it was in Albuquerque, where Dallas McPherson is hitting like Barry Bonds. The cost is fine, too; they're not going to miss two months of Arthur Rhodes, no matter how well he pitches.
I don't understand the White Sox perspective on the Ken Griffey Jr. deal. Folks, he is *not* a center fielder. He doesn't even have the range for right, and he's still a risk to break.

| Coghlan was named the NL Rookie of the Year on Monday. |
He just beat out the Phillies' JA Happ for the award, on the strength of a .388 batting average in August and September. Whether Coghlan stays in left field next season or shifts back to second base will depend on what the Marlins do with arbitration-eligible Dan Uggla, but wherever he plays he should be provide a solid OBP at the top of the Florida batting order. |

| Miami city commissioners voted 4-1 on Thursday in favor of a financial agreement to build a new baseball stadium for the Marlins, the Palm Beach Post reports. The club would be supplying $155 million of the estimated $525 million cost. The deal still requires further government approval, and comes too late to keep Miguel Cabrera in a Marlins uniform, but at least there is a tiny ray of hope for the handful of fans the team has left. |
