| After weeks of speculation regarding his future, Brian Burke is out as general manager of the Anaheim Ducks.
Burke stepped down as the Ducks’ general manager Wednesday and was replaced by Bob Murray, who has served as the team’s senior vice president of hockey operations since 2005. Burke reportedly has been weighing family concerns and has said he wants to return to the East Coast, where he still has children from his first marriage.

| Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle signed a two-year contract extension Wednesday. The Ducks did not disclose financial terms of the deal, which keeps Carlyle under contract in Anaheim through the 2010-11 season. Carlyle, 52, coached the Ducks to the first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history in 2007. Under Carlyle, Anaheim has reached the postseason each of the last three campaigns, also a franchise first. Carlyle has posted a 138-74-34 record in his three seasons with the Ducks. Anaheim went 47-27-8 this past season, finishing second in the Pacific Division and fourth in the Western Conference. But the Ducks were upset in the playoffs by the Dallas Stars, who ousted the defending Stanley Cup champions in six games in the conference quarterfinals.
