| William “Boots” Del Biaggio III, a co-owner of the Predators, on Friday filed for personal bankruptcy, according to a report by the San Jose Mercury News.
Del Biaggio, a San Jose investor who was a limited partner of the Sharks from 2002-07, is a member of Predators Holdings LLC, which purchased the Predators in December. He resigned in May from Sand Hill Capital Partners III, his investment fund for which he recently filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy due to debts of a reported $10.6 million.
Sued by at least three banks as well as DGB Investments of Saratoga for unpaid loans, Del Biaggio filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy because of debts of $56.8 million owed to his top 20 creditors, the Mercury News reported. Del Biaggio reportedly contributed 27 percent of the $193 million that Predators Holdings gave Craig Leipold for Nashville’s NHL team. One of his personal debts apparently is to Leipold for $10 million. |
