| The Sharks brought along Matt Shaw in July of 2009 to serve as an assistant coach to bench boss Todd McLellan. He'll join assistants Trent Yawney and Jay Woodcroft after holding the same title with Minnesota back in 2008-09. |

| Todd McLellan, a former assistant with the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings, was introduced as the new head coach of the Sharks on Thursday. McLellan succeeds Ron Wilson, who took the Maple Leafs job on Tuesday after being fired in San Jose despite leading the Sharks to the league’s second-best record last season with 108 points.
While the Sharks did not disclose the terms of McLellan’s contract, the Detroit Free Press reported that he received a three-year deal. He becomes the seventh coach in San Jose history. McLellan recently completed his third season with the Stanley Cup champion Red Wings after spending the previous four as coach of the American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros. The 40-year-old guided Houston to a 154-111-37-18 record during his tenure, including a Calder Cup championship in 2003.
